Annual Membership Plans and Payment Options

If you are unsure of your membership renewal date, please contact our membership coordinator at membership@dcfrontrunners.org. Unless you joined the club in late 2007 or 2008, your membership will likely expire on August 31. You should receive an membership renewal e-mail notice before your membership expires.

The 2008-2009 annual dues are:

1. •  $25  Individual  —  One runner/walker
   

2. •  $40  Household  — Two runners/walkers + other household members participating in club social events. Each runner/walker will have a separate listing in the club directory, individual access to the website members’ only area, discounts at running stores, opportunities to participate in the walk/race circuit and weekly e-mail updates and quarterly newsletter mailings sent to their individual e-mail accounts.
   

3. •  $10  Full Time Student — Student must be enrolled full time for at least one semester at a local college or university at the time of renewal or joining the club.
   

You can make your payment ON-LINE using our secured PayPal service or by printing a MEMBERSHIP FORM (in Adobe PDF format) and sending a check via regular mail. You may give your check to a board member at a club run/walk or send by mail to Lennie Carter, Treasurer, 1616 Taylor St, Washington, DC, 20001. Please do not send the check to the PO Box listed on the application form since it is no longer in service.

Other Voluntary Contributions

The club sponsors a number of special initiatives. Recently, our club started a 5K race training program, expanded outreach activities and held newcomers runs and walks to attract new members (especially students, beginning runners and walkers). We also co-sponsored the National Marathon and Half Marathon and 5K Run for Pride, redesigned the public website and member eNews webpage, introduced an on-line membership directory, and enhanced the quarterly newsletter. In November 2008, the club will begin the restoration of the DC Front Runners Memorial Grove in Rock Creek Park.

In order to fund these long-term efforts and recurring costs, we have set up special funds to accept member contributions. Members have the option to contribute to these initiatives and are under no obligation to make a financial donation to these efforts. Please note that your contributions will only be used to fund the initiatives that you have selected.

1. •  $10  DCFR Memorial Grove Restoration and Clean Up Project — In 1987, DCFR began planting trees in a designated area of Rock Creek Park (by the pedestrian bridge near the Calvert/Connecticut entrance to the parkway) to commemorate members who had died. In this, the 20th year of the Memorial Grove, we are working with the Casey Trees Foundation and National Park Service to restore and expand this work. This means planting new trees, removing dead limbs and poison ivy, and watering and maintenance to encourage healthy growth. We are asking for both volunteers and financial assistance to contribute to our efforts. The restoration will begin in November 2008.
   

2. • $10  Help a Member Fund —  In the past, the Board has approved the payment of dues for some members having limited funds or dealing with a difficult personal situation. This special fund would pay for the dues of these members (if the Board approves a request for assistance) and to subsidize our new student membership program.
   

3. •  $10  Special Events Funds —  The club hosts and subsidizes a number of special events. This special fund will offset costs of club sponsored events and promotions, such as Spring Fling, Holiday Party, and our Newcomer Runs and Walks.
   

Privacy, Security and Personal Information

By joining DC Front Runners you are consenting to our Privacy Policy for Members.  As a member, you may provide us with black-out preferences that will limit (or prevent) the use of your name and/or image in our newsletter and website. Please log into Member Manager or contact our membership director to change your privacy preferences.

To register online, you will be providing personal information to PayPal. The information you provide during registration will only be shared between PayPal and DC Front Runners. No other parties will have access to this information.   Visit PayPal.com’s privacy page for more information about its privacy policy.  

Please note that you do not have to establish a PayPal account in order to renew your membership. You can use your credit or debit card on a one-time only basis, create a PayPal account, or use your existing PayPal account. DC Front Runners is a PayPal verified member.

Other Information

Club Directories are available through the new members’ password protected area of this website. If you want to be included in the on-line directory, please be sure to join/renew by August 31. We will purge the current membership list of members who do not renew after August 31. Members will also receive a PDF version of the membership directory. The password protected areas of our website is hosted by Member Manager.

Weekly E-mail Blasts about club news and activities will be sent to the e-mail address you provide during registration. You may change your email address or be removed from this mailing list through our on-line membership directory or by e-mailing membership@dcfrontrunners.org. Please provide both the old and new email addresses when requesting a change. If you wish to be removed from the mailing list please add this as a comment in the "Street" field.
