DC Front Runners is a club that serves all runners and walkers in our community: fast and slow; young and old; marathoner and fitness walker; experienced and beginner. Our club maintains a regular schedule of non-competitive runs. These runs are well organized, but informal - you choose your distance and set your pace. The group is very diverse in both speed and intensity, and we encourage and support all who participate. So don’t be shy...we’re here to help you achieve your goals and we’ll make sure that you will feel welcome!
You do not have to be a member to participate in our runs. If you've never run with us before, a coordinator will greet you, introduce you to the other runners and help you find someone who runs at your pace and distance. Generally, between 10 and 20 people will show up except Saturday mornings, when 25 to 50 runners are more common. Turn-out drops when the weather is bad, but runs are never cancelled. Out-of-town visitors are always welcome to join us for a run. Occasionally, the club will also offer a race training program to help new runners prepare for their first race.
The club occasionally hosts a “Welcome Newcomers Fun Run and Walk” inviting interested runners and walkers to try one of our club runs or walks. You’ll have an opportunity to meet our members and ask your questions about our club. However, come to any of our weekly runs/walks if you are unable to attend these events! We also host a special Welcome Women Run and Walk on the third Saturday of every month.
On the schedule to the left, take note that Tuesday's meeting place varies depending on the time of year. Saturday morning’s 3, 4 or 6-mile fun runs are well attended and provide great opportunities to socialize afterwards; Sunday runs are typically longer distance for those who would like to train for road races and half or full marathons; and Thursday runs are usually smaller, but a great way to meet fellow runners.
