Front Runners Night Out - Friday, May 16 @ Nellie’s and Town Danceboutique

Come to Nellie’s—DC’s GLBT sports bar (900 U St NW)—at 6:30 PM to kick off Spring Fling! Wear your dancing shoes to Happy Hour because you are going to need them at Town Danceboutique, DC’s newest dance venue! We’ll grab a quick bite to eat somewhere in the Shaw/U Street area and then head over to Town (2009 8th St NW) around 10 PM. Newcomers and members are welcome!

Newcomers and Members Fun Run/Walk - Saturday, May 17 @ Union Station

Join us for a great fun walk/run along the National Mall in our beautiful capital city on Saturday, May 17. We will meet to walk at 9:30 AM and runners will meet around 10 AM for a 3, 4 or 6 mile run. Meet us at the plaza directly in front of Union Station. Afterwards, we will grab a bite to eat downstairs at the Food Court. If you’ve wanted to check out our club, here’s the perfect opportunity to run or walk with us!

SOLD OUT! Spring Fling Dinner - Saturday, May 17 @ HRC, 1640 Rhode Island NW

All are welcome to our Pre-Race Pasta Dinner at the Human Rights Campaign headquarters. Washington’s most perfect venue for any GLBT event, this casual catered buffet-dinner promises to be the perfect carbo-load in the most appropriate of settings – HRC!  6:00 PM-Reception,  7:00 PM-Dinner (Dinner has sold out), with the following dinner program:

Learn about the DC Front Runners Memorial Grove

DCFR inaugurated a Memorial Tree Grove in Rock Creek Park in honor and memory of those members who died of the AIDS epidemic of the late 1980s through early 1990s.  A dinner presentation by DCFR John Noran will highlight the history, location, and story of those memorialized by the grove, as well as plans to restore the grove this Fall. 

What’s New on Capitol Hill?

“The Ultra-Marathon Continues:  The Uphill Race to Win GLBT Rights on Capitol Hill.”

This after-dinner panel discussion by GLBT experts will discuss the leading political issues of importance on Capitol Hill.  Moderated by DCFR Jerry Langan, the panel promises to deliver a lively and informative discussion you won’t want to miss!

Capitol Hill Classic 10K - Sunday, May 18 @ Stanton Park, 5th and C Streets NE

The Capitol Hill Classic is one of our most popular circuit races. DCFRs will again staff the water station at 5th and East Capitol St.  Whether you’re running or watering – come out for this great race. The race begins at 8:30 AM.  All runners and water stop volunteers should come to the group photo that will be taken at the Nathanael Greene statue in Stanton Park after the race and right before the brunch!

Post-Race Sunday Brunch - Sunday, May 18 @ 1124 Constitution Avenue NE

All are invited to the Capitol Hill home of DCFR Ed Green (6 blocks from the finish line) for a super-fab post-race brunch.  Free to all, we’ll be flippin’ flapjacks, and mixin’ mimosas, and otherwise serving up a good time. The festivities will start around 10 AM.
