Time:   5pm - 9:30pm
Place: All Souls Episcopal Church, 2300 Cathedral Ave, NW

The grand tradition continues!   Please join us for food, dancing, conversation, comradery and a bit to drink to celebrate the season and each other at this annual festive event.   As usual, the event is pot-luck, so we ask that you again test your culinary skills and create a special dish for you and about six others.   Drinks are welcome too; soda, juice, beer and wine are always needed.   If you need guidance on what to bring, e-mail Orlando at apparel@dcfrontrunners.org

This year we are also sponsoring a Toy Drive. Please consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy and it will be donated to Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care, Inc.

If you're unsure how to get to All Souls Episcopal Church, the church has posted directions at www.allsoulsdc.org/contact/directions.html.

Volunteers are needed to make this event a success.   Please e-mail Jon Burnham at {email address removed} for more information.   We thank you in advance for your support.

We do need to get a count, so please email Mary Hubbard {email address removed} and let her know you're coming and with how many folks.

Hope to see you Sunday!

  Membership Renewal  (posted 06/28/06)

We have entered renewal season and it's time for most members to renew their memberships.   You will be sent a renewal reminder if you need to renew this year.   New members who joined anytime in 2006 do not need to renew - your membership runs through 8/31/2007.   There are 3 options for renewing membership:

  • Online Membership Registration using SignMeUp.com (accepts new members too)
  • A Printable Membership Form - fill out this form online, print it out and mail it to us with a check.
  • Offline Renewal - receive a form by email or mail, complete and return with a check by mail.
If you do not renew by August 31, 2006, your membership will expire.   You may still renew after that date, but you will not be included in the annual Club Directory, and benefits such as the Weekly Email Update, and others, may be terminated until you renew.

To learn more about the different renewal options visit the "Becoming a DCFR Member" section of our main Membership page.   Or go directly to our new Membership - Join Online page if you'd like to learn about, and register your membership online.

Colonial Half Marathon Weekend - February 24th thru 26th   (posted 02/22/06)

Once again its time for our annual road trip to Williamsburg, VA for the Colonial Half Marathon & 5K.   The race starts at 1pm on Sunday Feb. 26 from the College of William and Mary campus.   The Half-marathon is now closed, but you still register for the 5K on event day.   More information at www.tribeclub.com.

We have a block of 10 rooms for Friday and Saturday nights ($49 per night including free breakfast!) at the Ramada Historic Area right down the block from last year's hotel. Reserve a room by calling them directly at 757-220-3100. Be sure to mention that you are with the DC Front Runners to receive this rate. Sunday checkout is 11:00 am but the hotel offers day use of the room (for an additional charge of $24.50) allowing you to check out at 4pm so you have time to clean up after the race.   Hotel rates are better this year with 2 nights + 1/2 day and breakfast for $122.50, compared to last year's rate of $132.

The weekend kicks off with our Saturday morning fun run/walk through Colonial Williamsburg and then an afternoon free to explore this colonial era city and its surroundings.   Later that evening we dine at the Kings Arms Tavern but seating is limited to 28 persons.   Reserve your space at dinner by sending a check for $25 made payable to Kevin Lorei, {address removed}.   Deadline for the dinner reservation is Feb. 17th.   Expect dinner costs of $35 to $50 per person including beverage, taxes and tip.   On Sunday morning we breakfast together at a local pancake emporium, followed by registration/packet pickup and the race itself.   If you are not racing, cheer on your teammates as they cross the finish line inside the William and Mary gym.

Please e-mail Kevin Lorei, so he can send you the weekend intinerary.   He can also assist with transportation and/or room-sharing. Contact Kevin at {email address removed}.
