Why did you join the DC Front Runners?
My partner Gray had died of AIDS a few months earlier and I was casting about for a new life, plus I had already been running regularly for 25 years and needed more motivation.
Why is the DC Front Runners important to you?
It keeps my running going. After 50+ years, it gets stale, but is essential for health and vigor. Equally important are the friends I’ve made.
Do you have a favorite memory or story from the DC Front Runners?
Stuffing envelops when we still sent monthly newsletters. Watering the AIDS grove during the drought in the summer of 1993.
What was your first race ever? And your favorite race?
The Sallie Mae 10k (1994?) and The Clarendon 5k (all downhill)
What are your non-running hobbies?
Competitive bridge – I’m a Silver Life Master, and writing – I’ve published three books.
Is there anything else that you would like to add?
My third book, “Eternal Vigilance: Guarding Against the Predatory State” was published last month and is available on Amazon.
