Alcohol Consumption Policy

Alcohol Consumption Policy at DC Front Runners Events

1. Alcohol Consumption at Official Events

  • 1.1 This policy aims to provide guidelines for board members and general members regarding alcohol consumption at official and non-official events to ensure professionalism, responsible behavior, and the organization’s positive reputation. This policy applies to all board members and general members of DC Front Runners when attending events organized or sanctioned by the board or affiliated with the organization.

2. Board Members:

  • 2.1 Board members are expected to limit their alcohol consumption at official events to minimal amounts.
  • 2.2 If alcohol is served, board members should exercise extra caution, ensuring their intake remains moderate and does not interfere with their ability to represent the organization professionally.
  • 2.3 Board members should maintain professionalism and act as role models, setting a standard for behavior at these events.

3. General Members:

  • 3.1 General members are expected to drink responsibly if alcohol is served.
  • 3.2 All members should conduct themselves respectfully and in a manner that positively reflects on the organization.

4. Professional Conduct at Official Events:

  • 4.1 Whether board or general members, all attendees must uphold the values of DC Front Runners by avoiding any behavior that is disruptive, offensive, or detrimental to the organization’s reputation.

5. Responsibility as Role Models (Board Members):

  • 5.1 Board members are seen as leaders within the organization and the community. They should actively discourage excessive drinking and promote a culture of responsible alcohol consumption at events.

6. Special Event Considerations:

  • 6.1 Some events may have stricter guidelines regarding alcohol consumption due to the nature of the event, venue policies, or third-party partnerships. In such cases, all members, including board members, are expected to comply with these specific event guidelines. The event organizers will communicate any additional requirements prior to the event.

7. Non-Official Events (e.g., Happy Hours, Social Gatherings):

  • 7.1 Board Members:
    • 7.1.1 At non-official events such as happy hours or social gatherings, board members are encouraged to exercise personal discretion when consuming alcohol.
    • 7.1.2 Even at informal gatherings, board members should act in a manner that maintains the integrity of their position and the organization’s values.
  • 7.2 General Members:
    • 7.2.1 General members should drink responsibly and ensure their behavior aligns with the principles of DC Front Runners, even at non-official events.

8. Definitions:

  • 8.1 Official Events: Events that are organized, sponsored, or sanctioned by DC Front Runners or its board, including but not limited to races, fundraisers, meetings, and other formal gatherings.
  • 8.2 Non-Official Events: Informal social gatherings, such as happy hours, that are not directly organized or endorsed by DC Front Runners but may still involve members.

9. Event Responsibilities:

  • 9.1 At official events where alcohol is served, the board will designate a member to monitor compliance with this policy and address any issues related to alcohol consumption if necessary. This individual will serve as a point of contact for concerns or questions related to alcohol consumption during the event.

10. Zero-Tolerance for Unsafe or Inappropriate Behavior

  • 10.1 Any behavior involving alcohol that jeopardizes the safety of members, violates Membership Conduct Policy, or otherwise harms the organization’s reputation will result in immediate action. Board members may face removal, and general members may be barred from future participation.

11. Liability and Consequences:

  • 11.1 Board members who violate this policy may face consequences, including but not limited to censure, reprimand, or removal from board positions, depending on the severity of the violation.
  • 11.2 General members who violate this policy may face warnings, exclusion from future events, or memberships may be suspended or canceled.
  • 11.3 DC Front Runners will not assume responsibility for any legal or personal consequences resulting from members’ actions related to alcohol consumption at events.

12. Reporting Violations:

  • 12.1 Members who observe or experience inappropriate behavior related to alcohol consumption are encouraged to report the incident to the event organizer or a board member. Reports will be handled confidentially, and appropriate action will be taken based on the severity of the violation.
  • 12.2 Review Process: Allegations of policy violations will be reviewed by the board, and consequences will be determined based on the circumstances and severity of the offense.
  • 12.3 Policy Review: This policy will be reviewed annually by the board to ensure its alignment with DC Front Runners’ mission and values. Updates may be made to address emerging concerns or changes within the organization.
