DCFR Activities Amid COVID-19

View Our DCFR COVID-19 FAQ

The DCFR Board revised its COVID-19 policy as a result of DC Government’s revised guidance, developments with the COVID-19 pandemic including availability of vaccines, and interest among the DCFR membership for more events. The DCFR Board will continue to monitor the situation and notify the community through the DCFR website, social media platforms, and email of any changes to policy. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding.

In light of DC Government’s easing of capacity restrictions for outdoor gatherings (25 to 50 persons), the DCFRs will limit attendance for in-person events to a maximum of forty (40) persons. This limitation is to maintain compliance with DC Government requirements and to give the DCFRs a buffer for its capacity limitations. The Board will amend the capacity limitations, as appropriate. At this time, the only events that the DCFRs are holding are the Tuesday runs, and Saturday run/walk. These changes will be effective 3/28/2021.

Tuesday Runs

Beginning Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Tuesday Runs will meet at Shevchenko Statue at 23rd/P St. NW at 7pm and runs will be capped at 40 registrations.

Saturday Walks/Runs

Beginning Saturday, April 3, 2021, DCFRs will resume Saturday runs and continue with Saturday walks. Saturday Walks will meet at Shevchenko Statue at 23rd/P St. NW at 9:30am and Saturday Runs will meet at Shevchenko Statue at 23rd/P St. NW at 10am. This is to allow for a staggered start and minimize contact. There will be one registration for Saturday (walk & run) and it will be capped at 40 registrations.

Registration Information

Emails will be sent out to dues paying members every Monday at 8 a.m. with information on how to RSVP for that week’s events.

By attending, you will assume risks and waive, release, and hold harmless the DCFR from all claims relating to COVID-19 arising out of attending runs, walks, and other club activities. Members who are in a risk category or have underlying health issues should carefully consider their decision to attend runs and walks.

Rules/Requirements to attend a Walk/Run

The DCFRs has implemented these rules and requirements for DCFR attendees. To participate, you must:

  • REGISTER IN ADVANCE TO JOIN OUR GROUP RUNS AND WALKS
  • Wear a mask before and after runs and walks, and when members are unable to be six feet apart
  • Follow social distancing guidelines, including maintaining six feet between you and others
  • Depart gathering location once run or walk is complete
  • Stay home if you are feeling sick or unwell

We are not providing bag check/watching at this time.

As part of reopening, the DCFRs conducted a Spring/Summer 2021 survey in March 2021. Results from that survey are forthcoming. We thank the community for participating in this survey! If you have any questions or comments about DCFR’s COVID-19 posture, you may email Rene T., chair of the COVID-19 Ad-Hoc Committee, at walkers@dcfrontrunners.org.
